Why some experiences with water stay with us
You might have stayed somewhere so peaceful that you noticed the quiet?
You wake in the morning.
There is no traffic in the distance.
No constant background hum.
No small lights from devices around the room.
You sit outside.
Have breakfast.
Read for a while.
There are still sounds around you.
Birds.
Wind through the trees.
But it feels peaceful.
You hadn't gone there thinking about sound.
You were simply somewhere different.
And you enjoyed it.
Then you return home.
The familiar sounds are still there.
Traffic somewhere in the distance.
An air conditioner.
The refrigerator switching on.
Sounds from another house or apartment.
Nothing unusual.
Nothing that wasn't there before.
But now you notice some of them.
Nothing at home has changed. You simply have a reference you didn't have before.
The quiet somewhere else gave you something to compare with what had always been familiar.
And sometimes that is all it takes for us to begin noticing something differently.
Not because what we had before was wrong.
We simply experienced something else.
Water can give us references too.
A glass of water somewhere that tasted particularly fresh.
A shower that felt unusually smooth or soft.
Water that felt different on our skin or hair.
Or simply water we particularly enjoyed.
At the time, we may not have thought about why.
We simply experienced it.
Then we return to the water we know.
The water at home may already be something we have thought carefully about.
We may filter it or have other water systems in place.
We made those choices for reasons that mattered to us.
And still, we may have experienced water differently somewhere else.
That experience gives us another reference.
Not a reason to question the choices we have already made.
Simply a reason to wonder whether there is something else we haven't considered.
How water moves in nature.
And whether natural movement-supporting principles could become part of our own water environment.
The quiet we experienced somewhere else did not have to tell us there was something wrong with home.
It simply showed us another experience was possible.
A different water experience can leave us with the same kind of possibility.
What if some of the qualities we noticed and valued in water somewhere else could become relevant to the water experience where we live?
The glass from the kitchen tap.
Tomorrow morning's shower.
Water throughout the home.
The pool or spa.
Sometimes another experience doesn't give us an answer.
It gives us a reference for what else may be possible.
